Pu'u O Hoku Ranch

Pu'u O Hoku Ranch is a family-owned biodynamic and organic ranch and farm, rustic retreat center, and vacation getaway on the remote and tranquil east end of Molokai, Hawaii.

“Pu'u O Hoku” is true to its Hawaiian name— “Hill of Stars”—surrounded by more than 14,000 acres of protected land, immersed in the transcendent beauty of forest, sky and ocean.

Pu’u O Hoku is a 25-mile, one-hour drive from Kaunakakai along the island's scenic and winding southern coastline. From Kaunakakai, drive east on Kamehameha V highway. The ranch office and store are at mile marker 25, just before the descent into Halawa Valley, on the right side of the road.

The Lodge

Our lodge offers an “all-inclusive” venue, which is the best way to stay on Molokai as a group. It takes all the challenges of shopping for food, shipping it to the island, planning and preparing meals, and cleaning up after out of the equation! You and your guests get to relax, have a true 'foodie' experience eating all natural, organic produce and meat prepared for you, flavored with a hint of the islands. The meals prepared by our professional chefs are spoken of fondly years later....

The lodge, built in the 1930s by the famous architect Charles Dickey, has eleven bedrooms and can easily sleep 22 with double occupancy. Relax near the pool in the secluded area behind our lodge; or take an afternoon nap on our shaded lanai that looks out over Maui's leeward shore; or visit our yoga deck for a little stretching. The lodge features a majestic main room with rough cut wood beams, a rock fire place (yes, we do use it on occasion!) and a large conversation area with comfortable couches and chairs. It is adjacent to our country style commercial kitchen where most meals are served buffet style with seating inside, as well as out on the lanai. In addition there are two reading rooms and lots of interesting books in the library!

Grove Cottage

Perfect for traveling friends or families, the Grove Cottage is a four-bedroom getaway with stunning views of the ocean, winter whale-watching, and miles of walking along the island bluffs. You’ll pass the main farm and ranch operations before the road opens up to rolling fields. It sleeps eight comfortably, with a charming living and dining room, functional fireplace, and large lawn.

Sunrise Cottage

Located on the hill, separated from the main lodge by a maze of tropical gardens, and above the bustle of the ranch, the two-bedroom Sunrise Cottage is perfect for romantic getaways or small groups of travellers. Panoramic windows in the main room offer views of coastal bluffs and, in the winter, even whale-watching.

Sugar Mill Cottage

This cozy one-bedroom cottage is great for travellers who want to be a little bit closer to town. Situated next to the remains of an old sugar mill near the 20 mile marker along on the east side of the island. You will be just steps from one of Molokai’s safest and most attractive white-sand beaches. Its gentle shores are protected by the reef and it is great for snorkeling or just relaxing in the sun.

Molokai is serviced by several private and commercial airlines, all of which fly into Hoolehua airport, just outside of Kaunakakai. We recommend that guests to the island rent a car at the airport. For additional information on transportation options to the ranch, please call.

Private helicopter and plane service directly to the ranch's grass runway is also available. Contact us for more details.

The ranch office and store are open Monday through Friday. Stop by on your way to Halawa for snacks and sodas, farm-fresh produce, last-chance supplies, and local products.
