Our traditional working sheep farm is situated at 1200 ft. above sea level, on the quiet, unspoiled western side of the Peak District National Park in Rainow, near Macclesfield, Cheshire.
We enjoy excellent open countryside with far-reaching views over the Cheshire Plain to the Welsh mountains. On the farm we have five Bed and Breakfast rooms, plus two self-catering holiday cottages in tastefully converted stone barns – Croft Cottage which sleeps six, and Meadow Cottage which sleeps four.
Croft and Meadow cottage can be booked together to accommodate up to 10 people. We also have a new barn conversion, Cook Hill Cottage which sleeps 8.
Our on-site tea room can be booked for small conferences (up to 25 people) and we can provide catering to suit your needs.
Our holiday cottages and Bed & Breakfast rooms are ideally located for exploring the magnificent scenery of the Peak District and Cheshire, as well as for visiting the stately homes in the area, such as Chatsworth House.

Common Barn Farm Accommodation
Bed and Breakfast: Our Bed and Breakfast accommodation in Rainow, Macclesfield is ideal for groups, families, couples and individuals. It is the perfect base for exploring the Peak District, Lyme Park, Cheshire, Manchester as well as Liverpool.

Self-Catering: Currently there is two self-catering cottages available. Croft cottage and Meadow cottage. Both cottages are entirely self-contained, however can also be booked together to accommodate a large group of up to 10 people as both cottages are connected by an adjoining door.
Perfect for that county getaway! We also have a new addition, Cook Hill Cottage, which sleeps 8.

Directions to Common Barn Farm
By Train: The nearest train station is Macclesfield. There is a taxi rank directly outside of the station, from where you will need to get a taxi to Common Barn Farm, Smith Lane, Rainow. Upon your arrival we will then give you a key and show you to the cottage / bed and breakfast room.

By Air: The nearest airport is Manchester. Upon arrival you can either hire a car from the airport terminal, or get a taxi from directly outside of the airport building. Alternatively you can get the train from Manchester airport to Manchester Piccadilly, and then catch a train to Macclesfield. Trains from Manchester to Macclesfield run approximately every 30 minutes.

By Road: Take the B5470 out of Macclesfield towards Whaley Bridge. Rainow can be found after 3 miles. Go through the village past the Rising Sun pub, and the Robin Hood pub and take the first right hand road into Smith Lane where we can be found on the right hand side after half a mile.
