We are located on the Beach Road overlooking the entrance to the beautiful estuary of the Murray Islands. Situated on the edge of the prosperous fishing village of Beach Point, many people in the area enjoy the safe sandy beach and sand bars each summer.

Beach Point is three miles from Murray Harbour on route 18 and is positioned on the most southern part of Kings County and the province of P.E.I. We have warm, clean salt water in which to play and swim.

The two beach homes are set on two acres of rolling grassed lawns and a minute walk to one of the most picturesque beaches on the East Coast of Canada.

Herring Beach Homes Accommodation

MacNeill House
The dining area allows the guest to absorb the morning sun and watch the waterfowl on the salt-water pond. The kitchen is fully equipped, except for dishwasher, and everything to dine independently is provided. The washer/dryer is located here also. Step out the door onto an open deck where the prevailing breeze, sou’ west, cools the lawn chairs and B-B-Q area. Summer temps are usually in the 70 F or 20 C, plus range.

The master bedroom, with queen size mattress, has an excellent view to the west and the beautiful sunsets falling over the lighthouse and waterways. The full bathroom is located downstairs just off the sitting room. This restored, century house has a lot of local history and is named for the MacNeill family who lived in it for many years.

MacNeill House has an excellent living area to relax and enjoy the satellite TV, DVD and VCR. The CD-radio also offers another form of entertainment. A double size hide-a-bed gives the visitor another sleeping option and allows some freedom of space. This room and the sitting room located across the entrance hall, gives a view of the beach and harbour entrance area.

Across the hall is located the second bedroom with two single beds. This room welcomes the sunrises and looks out on the front lawn. Each bedroom has a telephone and privacy is assured for the guests. The original board floor reminds us of earlier days and the way if use to be.

Herring House
The sitting/living room area has one of the best views anywhere! From these rocking chairs, a person can watch the sea gulls working the beach and see the fishing boats leave and return again from their work. The spacious lawn area has games for young and older alike. Walks to the beach or a bike ride out to the lighthouse give an invigorating exercise and experience. This room also allows the use of a hide-a-bed and sleeping couch for larger groups.

The upstairs, master bedroom, has a queen size bed and the window opens to the beach. This room is located directly across from the full bath, and make sure to enjoy the old fashion pedestal bathtub for a long, relaxing soak. The open windows give a sea breeze to cool the living/sleeping area. Next door to these two rooms is another bedroom with three/quarter size mattress. All bedrooms have dresser drawers and clothes hanging accommodations.

e third bedroom, with queen size mattress, is located on this ground level. The private sleeping area has a great cool atmosphere for the warm summer weather. The natural wood finish is a relaxing ingredient for a sound rest and recluse. This summer home was constructed in the early 1970’s by Louis and Carrie Herring, as they were starting to enjoy their retirement. The lumber came from the families‘ local wood farm and the skills of our parents made this construction a labour of love for all. We trust you will enjoy Beach Point as much as we do.

The large kitchen and dining area is ready for a group of most any size. It is fully furnished with all the modern conveniences, except dishwasher. Use the B-B-Q to cook meat or fish for those special meals and use the large sun deck over looking the beach or the ample dining facilities inside.

A half bath with shower is located off the kitchen and a private pantry gives lots of food storage. The stone fireplace is made from Newfoundland rocks that were used as ballast in the many schooners coming back from delivering their cargos of produce. The large photo of the turn of the century will show how things used to be.
