Dining
You'll find all the comforts you long for--we pay attention to the details that make your stay memorable: freshly ironed bed linens, well-equipped baths, and immaculate rooms. we are very knowledgeable about our area and can help you discover places off the beaten track.

Former guests rave about our meals! We serve hearty, farm-style breakfasts and we can accommodate most special dietary needs. We use fresh, local, and organic foods in preparing our menus, whenever possible. And when we do use non-local items, we search out premium quality products, giving first preference to those with Atlantic Maritimes origins. Wolfhead Smokers supplies us with their cold-smoked salmon; we think it's one of the finest small smokers in the Atlantic Maritimes!

The coffee we serve comes from PEI's own, Caledonia Coffee Roasters; from the Edmonton-based gourmet varietal roaster, Transcend Coffee; and from the innovative Mid-Atlantic-based Keuka Lake Coffee Roasters. As for teas, we have more varieties of teas than you can sample in a weekend. Consider scheduling one of our Tea Tasting Sessions as part of your stay.

Additional meals may also be available, by prior arrangement. During May & June, lobster dinner packages are a special option. At other times of the year, we prepare fresh, local fish, beef, pork, or lamb entrees. Vegetarian meals are always available by request, and we can accommodate most restricted diets. Call or email us in advance to schedule a dinner during your stay with us. Be sure to check out our Special Packages, as we offer unique culinary meals as part of these weekend deals.

About Us
We first traveled to Prince Edward Island in the early 1990s. One of our neighbors in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, had grown up in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and suggested that we might find PEI an interesting place to visit. On our first visit, we fell in love with the Island. We began making yearly visits and found that our love affair with this place never seemed to wane.

During each additional trip, we always seemed drawn to the eastern end of the Island, and we gradually began to dream about finding a place on the Island to call our own. Bruce longed for a quiet place to work and write on his many ongoing historical research projects, and I hoped to establish a retreat house for people involved in the creative arts--a place where working artists and writers could find a quiet space to let their creativity soar and come to fruition.

In 2003 our dream took shape and became reality. Our former Island hosts and now dear friends, Elora & Robert Rose, suggested that a house located near them in the area of North Lake Harbour might be the perfect location for our retreat centre. After viewing the property, we agreed.

Each year brings new, sometimes small, sometimes big changes, and Harbour Lights Guest House continues to evolve, but the quiet and beauty of our rural landscape remains constant. We invite you to come for a visit and let Harbour Lights Guest House's inspirational setting work its magic on you, too.
