This three story structure was built in 1881 and towers magnificently over Northumberland Strait. In 1905 a Marconi wireless station was built on the site to provide communications with coastal steamers, it was one of seven such stations in service on Prince Edward Island. This site was the first Canadian land based station to receive the S.O.S. distress call from the Titanic on the night of April 14th 1912.

Historical artifacts and information are displayed in the lighthouse which is open for guided tours from June to September.
Be sure to visit three other light houses in this area; Point Prim, Wood Islands and Panmure Island. Those with an interest in lighthouses can tour the Island and visit the many lights which guard the coastline.
