About Us
The Bay Vista Story: Always a Warm Family Welcome!
Our goal is to make your family feel both welcome and relaxed during your stay with us on Prince Edward Island. In 2010 we start our 34th tourism season. Over the years we have hosted weddings, rehearsal dinners, birthdays, senior olympics, school and team groups, as well as corporate golf groups.

Arnold and his mother (Dorothy) started working at the motel in 1974; mum in the office and Arnold working in the restaurant and lounge called the Fiddles n’ Vittles.

In May of 1977 mum and dad (Dorothy and George Smith) were approached to see if they wanted to purchase the motel, they declined, but Arnold, his sister Vivian and her husband Fulton decided to buy the motel. So on the first day of August 1977, the motel became a Smith-Younker adventure.

We have come a long way since then when the rooms had double beds, black and white televisions, and an unheated outdoor pool! Brrrrrrrr! Over the years we have been constantly renovating, upgrading, and enlarging our rooms to offer more services and amenities.

For those of our guests who have been coming for years you just have to take a glance across the property to see the many expansions, new buildings and upgrades since 1977 which have earned us a 3.5 star rating.

Our family has grown up here and many of our returning guests have become friends of the family and remember Tammy and Pamela as children helping out at the Bay Vista on their summer vacations. Today Tammy is assists with running the family business while working towards her BA in Psychology and Pamela is a Registered Massage Therapist.

If you haven’t had the pleasure of meeting Vivian as she ensures the rooms are clean and ready or Arnold, often found in the breakfast room, please do so. We love getting to know our guests and answering any questions they might have. We have great staff on site as well, and if you need anything just let one of us know!

We appreciate your choice to stay with our family while your family vacations on PEI. Whether you are visiting on your own or a family of six, the Bay Vista is your home away from home.

Discover Prince Edward Island
Using the Bay Vista as your base you can discover all of PEI in a few days. Our staff is more than capable of advising the best spots to see and things to do whether you have 2 days or 2 weeks. Let us know of your interests or hobbies and we will point you in the right direction. If genealogy or island history is your thing Arnold can assist in finding your island roots.

Festivals & Events PEI is a great place to start in planning the dates for your Island vacation. We have festivals planned from tip-to-tip all year round. Find the one that interests you and we can provide the great place to stay.

Right off the Batt Pottery
Get into it “right up to your elbows” with unique PEI Experiences. Hands on activities, tours, excursions and more. One of our personal favorites is “Play in Clay” at the Right off the Batt Pottery in Kinkora. A wonderful place to create a custom memento of your PEI vacation…. or plan ahead for the winter gift giving season and create a gift for your loved one.
