Nxabega Okavango Tented Camp is located in a riverine forest on the
channels and lagoons within a private concession of 7 000 hectares (17
300 acres) in the Okavango Delta, southeast of the Moremi Wildlife Reserve.
Massive canopies of African ebony trees offer seclusion within this luxuriously
remote location .
Overlooking expansive lagoons and channels, as well as reed floodplains,
you can’t help but feel that you’ve found a small piece of
heaven, an oasis of your very own.
Rest thou weary head…
Nxabega Okavango Tented Camp consists of 9 luxurious en suite safari
tents with standing fans. Raised on wooded platforms, the safari tents
are invitingly spacious warm tones and accents, ideally placed on either
side of the camp’s thatched guest areas.
Indulge in the luxurious comforts of the refreshingly cool swimming pool,
broad viewing decks overlooking reeded floodplains, en suite showers,
burnished teak floorboards, private wooden decks, sweeping guest areas,
leather fittings, comfortable reed chairs and a gleaming dining room area.
Things to experience
Game drives
Game drives are offered twice daily during the morning and late
afternoon / evenings within the comfort of open air safari vehicles and
in the company of an enthusiastic armed guide and tracker team. Explore
the floodplains, seasonal grasslands woodlands, shrub lands and savanna
areas of this magically beautiful wilderness area tracking the Big Five
and many other rare and remarkable species.
Bush walks
A truly special way to experience a close encounter with Africa’s
wilderness is to discover it on foot with an interpretive bush walk. In
the company of an armed and passionate guide, a leisurely walk of this
kind allows you an intimate adventure and the opportunity to learn about
the finer details of this remarkable place.
Mokoro rides
Take advantage of those invitingly peaceful waterways with an
incredible mokoro ride! Fringed by dense reeds, water lilies and papyrus,
you and your experienced and highly knowledgeable guide will explore the
wilderness of the Delta, discovering a rich diversity of plant and wildlife
species as well as fascinating bird life.
Safari game drive
A gentle tap on the door of your luxurious safari tent as the
morning hues of the day rise over the horizon will awaken you to a brand
new and exciting day. Sip a steaming hot cup of fragrant tea or coffee
and enjoy a few biscuits or rusks as you daydream of the adventure of
the day that lies before you. An open safari vehicle awaits your arrival
for the morning game drive of a lifetime!
Leisure walks and Swimming pools
Upon your return to Nxabega Okavango Tented Camp, fresh fruit
and cheese platters will invite you back as the aromas of a freshly prepared
hot breakfast selection being cooked will tempt your senses. Take a leisurely
walk around the camp accompanied by your guide who will expand your knowledge
of the wild in a brand new and exciting way or simply enjoy the exclusive
tranquility of the camp facilities and surrounds. Lunch will then be served
in the shady guest areas tucked away within the riverine forest.
Treat yourself to a refreshing dip in the camp’s pool or a delightful
afternoon siesta before a late afternoon tea is served. Enjoy an afternoon
adventure with a boat ride along the crystal clear channels of the Delta
on a mokoro or in a motorized boat, discovering the treasures of the Okavango
at eye level. Return to the camp for a mouth–watering dinner under
the stars before retiring into pleasant dreams of your next adventure
in the African bush!
How to get there
Nxabega Okavango Tented Camp is easily reached with scheduled
flights to Maun or Kasane on Air Botswana. Upon arrival at either of these
destinations, a short flight by light aircraft to the Nxabega Okavango
Safari Camp airstrip then sees you closer to your magical destination.
A welcoming party of representatives eagerly await your arrival with an
open safari vehicle, ready to take you on a short 15–minute transfer
to the camp.
