Irong Range Cabins

Lockhart River is a coastal Aboriginal community situated on the eastern coast of Cape York Peninsula, Queensland. It is approximately level with Weipa on the western coast of Cape York peninsular, and is approximately 800 km north of Cairns by Road, or a one and a half hour flight. 2550 km by road north of Brisbane. Lockhart River is the northern most town on the east coast of Australia. The community is located approx. 2 km inland from Quintell Beach and is within the Iron Range National Park. During WW2 the Iron Range Airport was constructed as a bomber base to defend the northern part of Australia from japanese invasion.

Accommodation

The Iron Range cabins, provide comfortable accommodation facilities for both corporate and tourist visitors.
The cabins are located 5 kilometres west of the Lockhart River Township, and are situated next door to the historic Lockhart River Aerodrome.

The Iron range cabin complex consists of 10 studio cabins ,3 x 2 bedroom Cabins, 1 Double ensuite room and 1 Twin Single ensuite room.  All cabins are fully self contained,  and the Double Ensuite and Twin Single Ensuite rooms share a kitchen between the two rooms.

 All cabins are unserviced except for long term stays which will be serviced every 7 days.  We also cater for handicapped visitors with a handicapped unit setup to meet their requirements in respect to wheelchair and impaired mobility access.  Sorry strictly NO pets allowed on the premises.
